On a cold start, it ramps up over 5-10 minutes to avoid alternator stress. With a Euro 6 smart alternator fluctuating between 12.4-14.8V input, the Orion boosts output to a stable 14.4V (AGM) or 14.6V (LiFePO4) regardless of input voltage.

Mount the Orion-Tr vertically on a panel near the battery — it runs warm at full output (40-45°C case temperature) and needs airflow around the heatsink fins. Don't mount it in an enclosed space or lay it flat — heat builds up and the unit derates to protect itself, dropping from 30A to 20A.
