Van Fridge Finder
Find the perfect fridge for your van. Real measured consumption in Ah/day at 25 °C.
My recommended premium fridge
If you've got the budget, the EcoFlow GLACIER Classic is the best on the market right now: variable compressor, removable battery so you can take it outside, ultra-low consumption (~0.6 kWh/day for the 45L). This is the one I've been using for a year.

Battery tip
With a 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery (80 Ah usable), a 22 Ah/day compressor fridge gives you about 3.6 days of autonomy. Add solar to offset!

FAQ
What's the best fridge for a camper van?+
A 12V compressor fridge is the best choice. Models like the Dometic CFX3 or Truma Cooler use 20-25 Ah/day, vs 50-60 Ah for absorption types. Thermoelectric coolers should be avoided for permanent use.
How much power does a 12V van fridge use?+
An average compressor fridge uses 20-28 Ah/day (240-336 Wh) at 25°C. With a 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery (80 Ah usable), that's 3-4 days of autonomy without recharging. Noise ranges from 36 dB (Engel, near-silent) to 48 dB (Alpicool).
Portable or built-in fridge for a van?+
Portable fridges (CFX3, Alpicool) are flexible and cheaper. Built-in models (CRX, Vitrifrigo, Indel B) integrate better and are often quieter. The choice depends on your build type.
How much does a van fridge cost?+
From €180 (Alpicool C15) to €1400 (ARB Elements). Best value is €300-500 with Iceco VL45, Alpicool C40, or BougeRV CR45. Dometic and Engel cost more but are more reliable and quieter.
